A native of Plymouth, England, Samuel Prout primarily specialized in European architectural and cityscape subject material, and favored watercolor as his medium. His works have been engraved for the Beauties of England and Wales, The Antiquarian and Topographical Cabinet and for the Illustrations of the Rhine, drawn from Nature and on Stone by S. Prout. In 1829, Prout was appointed
