It was derived from a drawing sketched by Jean Louis Dumas, former CEO and chairman of the Herms Group. The Kelly Doll name is a play off "Quelle Idole", which is a French expression that translates to "what a doll!". It originally debuted in in eight colorways: Orange H, Rouge H, Noir, Noisette, Bleu Saphir, Vert Olive, Vert Cru, and Rouge Vif and discontinued
