but papier mache box itself in generally good and sturdy shape with only minor rim loss

I think perhaps the latter

and the sprawling vines growing out from the heart with cross above

I'd keep them near at hand for frequent readings

This is the simpler of the two whole pages of single letters, and then short words: me, on, our, nor, etc. I just love seeing these whole fields of "o"s and "me"s and "ace"'s. Feels both like found poetry and abstract drawings. 7 1 8" x 6 1 2". 24 numbered pages plus cover, all completed. Very good condition.
