Mortiis stepped up to the microphone as a lead vocalist for the first time, and the album expanded to encompass more live musicians, ushering in a metamorphosis in his sound. Closer to synthpop in parts, the album clutched more tightly onto its industrial rock sensibilities and became significantly more refined and propulsive as a result. It had a
