but it has definitely lived in this 19th c silhouette type frame for quite a long time

A lot of years on her for sure, late 19th very early 20th c. I would think, with a beautifully elongated head that adds to a sense of (aero)dynamism, long ears pointing in the opposite direction, and brass nails for eyes. Plus
