This is a very nice British EIC Saddle Ring carbine with a back action lock. The style of the "EIC Lion" on the lock looks to indicate local manufacture in India under British supervision, though it is also just as possible that it was assembled using British made parts. The hammer in particular definitely looks to be of British manufacture, so the lock may have been re marked when the gun was assembled. The carbine
