I believe the snapshot was likely taken for medical purposes, documenting the condition of the subject's foot and leg, but for me it is so much about the formal qualities of the image as a whole (the tonalities, the lines of the stools, the surface of the floor, the arc of the leg, the curve of the frame in the background) which, combined with the sense of
