This is a very nice recovered U. S. Civil War Solid Shot "Bolt" projectile, intended for use with the M1861 3 inch Ordnance Rifle. This small cannon had a wrought iron barrel, and was widely used by field artillery units during the Civil War. These proved to be highly accurate at longer ranges when firing Shot, Shells, and Shrapnel. They were produced by Phoenix Iron Works in Phoenixville, Pennsylvania. This
