This is an extremely scarce German flare pistol introduced in 1915 and utilized by the Imperial German Navy throughout World War I. The only markings on the pistol are ST & B14 122 on the butt which indicate the maker, Stantien & Becker. These flare pistols were primarily for Naval use but they saw some service on land as well.
