What appears to be a scratch over one eyebrow I do not believe is damage but rather just an unglazed area original to the piece
is signed at the bottom but I am uncertain of its maker
and on and around the bottom of the basket (as well as peeking through in a few spots through the woven sweetgrass) have been dyed red

Curious Tiny Hand-painted Porcelain Asian Wise Man on Mound stacked wood frames What appears to be aI am quite smitten with this tiny, gorgeously hand painted little porcelain man rising from this curious round, unglazed base, but I don't know anything about him. I assume with his bald head, long beard, and colorful kimono, that he represents a Buddhist monk but I really have no idea of his age, and have not found another quite like him. He is certainly quite finely painted and feels to me like a pretty special little piece and surely perching him
