I've found a few other carved antler mushrooms
I do think it was made very much in the tradition of antique carved folk art dolls

I like to think the maker of this made one for every month of the year--and I wish I had them all
but I have not been able to figure out the maker

(And, at the end of the day, my drive is toward assembling an interesting and lively cast of characters to keep company with!) I believe American, though he looks perhaps French, or maybe even partly Middle Eastern.
