Carved Buoy with Great Form and Rainbow of Scuffs dressage markers kept by a young girlThe shape of this old carved wood buoy does it for me, with the sway of the form making with think of a human figure, back arched and belly protruding. What makes it really beautiful to me, though, is the surface patina, particularly how the white paint shows a rainbow of scuffs and stains accumulated through banging up against other things. Like a 3 dimensional painting that might happily live next to a Frank Stella or Richard Tuttle, and I'd treat
