Die F 16XL hat einen um 142 cm lngeren Rumpf als die Standard F 16, eine um 120 % grere Flgelflche als die F 16, 1300 kg mehr Nettogewicht als die F 16A, 82 % mehr Treibstofftankkapazitt im Rumpf und 27 Befestigungspunkte, weshalb sie den Spitznamen Bomb Truck hat.
