An Iron Cross paty constructed of gilded bronze, the obverse face is pebbled with a ribbed border, the centre bears the cipher FF for Grand Duke Friedrich Franz II, the 12 oclock arm bears a royal crown and the 6 oclock arm bears 1914, the reverse is plain and bears a vertical pinback with a round wire catch, unmarked, 40. 90 (w) x 40. 81 mm (h), near mint.
