but this Distiller's Edition is extra special as it undergoes a second (or ‘double’) maturation in casks that have previously held a fortified wine

they were finished in French oak barrels and barrels that were previously used to mature port

The nose is fresh with a hint of vanilla and soft wood

Appearance: luxuriant 18 karat gold flecked with cinnamon red at its heart with edges of yellower gold leaf shimmering with each gentle swirl of the glass

This rye will be double finished (for an additional three months) in separate barrels which previously contained port wine

Aged in 53 gallons, charred American oak casks for two years before being bottled in 375 ml bottles at 110 proof. Expect notes ofblack pepper, cloves, ginger and spicy rye that give way to hints of oak, caramel, and vanilla on the palate.
